Founder - John Fogarty
John Fogarty is the Founder and Executive Director of the NWA Wrestling Academy. He started this Non Profit 501C3 organization to help grow the sport of wrestling, improve the skill level of the wrestlers and coaches, and instill character traits to the the Student Athletes of "All ages" and "All genders." His goal is to supplement the High School and Youth wrestling programs by offering camps, clinics, goal setting, film study, strengths, weaknesses, technique training sessions to elevate the skill level of the kids. It is important to him that kids are student athletes both on and off the mat. This sport helps prepare kids for life and the sport was instrumental in shaping his life in many ways.
John is originally from Nescopeck, PA. He was a 3 sport athlete and graduated with a 4.0 grade average and was involved in many community activities. In wrestling John was a PIAA 2nd and 3rd place winner with only 2 losses in the state tournament to a 3X State Champion. He was a 3X Sectional Champion, 2X District Champion, 2X Regional Champion, and AAU Jr. Olympic Champion. He had a career record of 116-12. He was the captain of the football team and All Conference linebacker of the year as well.
John went on to College at Cornell University where he was a four-year starter and captain of the Cornell Wrestling Team. He was a NCAA Qualifier, 2X Ivy League Champion, New York State Champion, and the Top Male Junior Athlete at Cornell. He graduated Magna Cum Laude and has a business management degree. He also was honored as a Quill and Dagger prestigious honor society.
John has worked for Walmart for 17 years in various leadership roles in Operations, Finance and Strategy, and Innovation. He has an MBA from John Brown University. He is a loving husband and father that enjoys spending time with his family. He appreciates that his family supports him giving back to the kids and a sport he loves.
